Matt Johnson The Pianist (after Robert J. Lang) 2005

Well, apparently everyone in the world hates me, or I just really focus too much of my fantasy time in NYC and London.  No one told me that The Pianist was right down the street at one of the better curated shows I have ever seen at The Hammer.  Now, how could I miss this? The Pianist is one of my favorite sculptures I have laid my eyes on in quite a while.  And in person!? Unbelievable.
The figurative representation created from such a pliable yet sturdy, weather resistant material gives it a remarkably concrete presence.  If you can make it down there, do.  It’s free on Thursdays, so no excuses Angelenos.
