Chris Burden is building a “skyscraper” Erector Set pieces in Rockefeller Center. I don’t really understand his direction all the time, but he has had an interesting trajectory that is for sure.
(Burden’s) most infamous pieces, “Shoot” and “Trans-fixed,” were accurately titled. In one, a friend shot Mr. Burden in the left arm with a .22-caliber long rifle; in the other, he had his hands nailed to the roof of a Volkswagen bug.
