Elmgreen & Dragset, Crash… Boom… Bang!, 2008
My official predicition for the next Fourth Plinth at Trafalgar Square. A lot of genuine guess work and feminine intuition went into this decision, but a few things influenced me.
- Everyone is talking about Marfa right now, and what do you think of when you think of Marfa? Prada Marfa.
- Gossip Girl. ‘Nuf said.
- They are popular and recognizable without being TOO well known. I think that the Fourth Plinth people like to be able to take someone on the verge and push them. Not that (critically speaking) Gormley needed any pushing, but I bet two years ago if I went up to any layman on the street and said “So how about that Antony Gormley?” the response would likely be “Who?”.
