I consider myself an artful blogger. What more can I really say?

Elmgreen & Dragset Powerless Sculpture, Fig. 101 on my IPad wallpaper.

I have talked about s[edition] before and how excited I was about it and the idea of digital art on our mobile devices, and I finally downloaded my first piece. Conclusion? Grossly unimpressed. On the website it shows the piece rotating, so I was under the impression I was going to receive an ongoing video-esque piece for my IPad. This is how it shows all the pieces, moving, lights flickering…dynamic. I downloaded from “my vault” the piece you see above, and what did I get? Just a regular high res image of the piece. No movement, no activity, just a static image. I thought at first I did something wrong, and I redownloaded it on different devices, through different channels, and nothing.
I mean, while the photography is better lit and probably with better access I will get to some of the pieces they show, it really isn’t any different than me taking a high res image of a piece of art I like and posting it on my iPad.
Potentially I could have done something wrong, and I should be receiving a moving image, but the site made it too difficult for me to try and figure out that avenue so I am not going to give it another try. It was such a good idea, so poorly executed.
If any of you have experience with this site and can tell me I have done this correctly or horribly wrong, it would be much appreciated. For now, I’ll just look at my pretty image and be glad that I got it on a promotion that meant I didn’t actually have to pay for anything.

Elmgreen & Dragset was selected to be the next artist featured on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. Who’s psychic? I’m psychic.

Elmgreen & Dragset Powerless Structures, Fig 101 2010

The presentation of the proposals for the plinth* was yesterday and I took a gander at them and feel very good about my original prediction for Elmgreen & Dragset to win.  You can see the rest of the ideas here.

*Alliteration :)

    Elmgreen & Dragset, Crash… Boom… Bang!, 2008

My official predicition for the next Fourth Plinth at Trafalgar Square.  A lot of genuine guess work and feminine intuition went into this decision, but a few things influenced me.
Everyone is talking about Marfa right now, and what do you think of when you think of Marfa? Prada Marfa.
Gossip Girl. ‘Nuf said.
They are popular and recognizable without being TOO well known.  I think that the Fourth Plinth people like to be able to take someone on the verge and push them.  Not that (critically speaking) Gormley needed any pushing, but I bet two years ago if I went up to any layman on the street and said “So how about that Antony Gormley?” the response would likely be “Who?”.
I’m PSYCHIC!!!!

    Elmgreen and Dragset Prada Marfa

I know I have posted about Prada Marfa before, but I just found this picture and I love it.*
*This shot looks like it could be a still from the X-Files (series not the movie).
**Whatever, I know I’m a nerd.
