Fiona Banner Tate Britain Christmas Tree 2007

Fiona Banner Summer 2009, 2009
I think I might have to find a place where I can try and accomplish this for myself in 2010.
Fiona Banner was not in her studio from July-September 2009. This piece of paper was left out in the sunlight for the duration of the summer, with a stencil laid on it. At the end of the summer the stencil was removed, leaving a mark where the letters had been. via…

Fiona Banner Break Point 1998
She wrote down and described the chase scene from the most classic of classics, Point Break. Art and awesome movies? Feeling bold…
Banner, if you are reading this, I also like art and kick-ass movies. Let’s be best friends.
Cool.

Fiona Banner Colour Blind
I wish I could get a closer shot of this, but maybe it’s better that I don’t as it would be very NSFW.

I have been looking for this artist for years. Not even kidding, I first read about her when she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize, promptly lost whatever reading material that the article was in and haven’t seen anything by her since.
I don’t think it’s a secret that I love art incorporating letters/words/sentences the like, but when she does it, her straightforwardness really hits me. Sometimes, they are handwritten, and the labor of love is just moving, other times (like above) it is stenciled or printed, but the choices of font, composition (both senses of the word) and color all work together so harmoniously, it is impossible to think of the text in any other form.
Fiona Banner. I will not forget her name again. Also, excuse me if I post like 5 things because I am on overload excitement time.
