Gagosian’s Beverly Hills location has expanded and is looking pretty incredible. I can’t wait to see it on Thursday in person.
I am loving the departure from the “white cube” aesthetic.

Richard Serra Open Ended 2007-08
The West 21st Street (NY) location of Gagosian is going to be showing this sculpture, so if you are in the area you should probably stop by.
I posted this information to you so I could have an excuse to rant a little bit. I know present to you an open letter to a guy at LACMA in the Serra sculpture like, 2 weeks ago.
Hey guy in that stupid hat,
Don’t try to tell me that I am walking through the sculpture wrong and where to look, I will look however I want to and on top of that it’s none of your business how I chose to take in this sculpture.
xx.

I received the UGLIEST invitation from Gagosian for the upcoming show in London in the mail yesterday, and for once, I wasn’t jealous that I didn’t live in the good ole UK…Now I am again. Thanks.

Jeff Koons Girl Woods (Dots) 2008
I actually kind of like this. Weird.
Koons’ new paintings are opening at Gagosian Beverly Hills in November, which is confusing, because I could have sworn that the stupid bicycles were supposed to be there then?
Yeah. They were. Wonder what’s going on? Does that mean no Aaron Young? Now I’m bummed.
» Gagosian in Talks to Open in Art Gallery in Paris
Gagosian Gallery, the art world’s global leader in commercial exhibition space, is preparing to open a branch in Paris, said dealers familiar with the company and its directors.
The New York-based gallery has been negotiating to acquire premises in the 8th arrondissement of the French capital near the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, said the dealers. Gagosian’s London-based director Victoria Gelfand did not immediately respond to e-mails from Bloomberg News seeking comment.
I knew about this already, but seriously? Seriously? Instead of a fast car and a much younger girlfriend (standard) he’s opening up gallery spaces like he’s going to die tomorrow.

KAWS, Dzine, and Kenny Scharf in STAGES at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin, Paris
There was a point, not too long ago, that I was thinking I would change my email address if I got ONE MORE THING about this Lance Armstrong Bountiful Bike Bonanza*, but luckily, the one more thing was by KAWS and I like KAWS because it’s silly and colorful. Now I have two reasons to see this when it comes to town:

STAGES: Lance Armstrong launches a global art exhibition to raise funds and awareness in the fight against Cancer at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin
on view July 16 - August 8, 2009.
Lance Armstrong launches a global art exhibition and sale that provides a new way to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation and its LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign.
“Stages” brings together close to thirty of the world’s most creative and diverse artists to create original works of art inspired by Armstrong and his mission to raise awareness of the global cancer burden. This unique project brings together the worlds of art, philanthropy and sport, in a way never before seen, to create artwork that represents the power of human potential in overcoming adversity.
“Stages” will debut in Paris on July 16th during the Tour de France at Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin and run through August 8th. The exhibition will then travel to New York City for an October showing before moving to Los Angeles in November.via…
It’s not that I’m against fundraising, I just don’t particularly want to see a bunch of “decorated bikes” in one of my favorite gallery spaces for so long. I just don’t see it being as interesting as say, the BMW art cars. And I think that Lance Armstrong is a jerk. There, I said it.
Of course, all of this is moot if Aaron Young decides to show up to the opening and I will pretend I never said any of this and do my best to not get kicked out for sexual harrassement. No promises on the latter part though.
