About

I consider myself an artful blogger. What more can I really say?

Matt Johnson, The Pianist (after Robert J. Land), 2005, blue tarp, paper, stainless steel

I will never not reblog this sculpture. It is one of my favorite top 10 of all time and I consider myself lucky for having been able to see it at the Hammer this year.

    Urs Fischer, Untitled, 2009.

I think this is my second favorite piano piece.  First being this lovely sculpture by Matt Johnson and Tom Sachs in third.

Matt Johnson The Pianist (after Robert J. Lang) 2005

Well, apparently everyone in the world hates me, or I just really focus too much of my fantasy time in NYC and London.  No one told me that The Pianist was right down the street at one of the better curated shows I have ever seen at The Hammer.  Now, how could I miss this? The Pianist is one of my favorite sculptures I have laid my eyes on in quite a while.  And in person!? Unbelievable.
The figurative representation created from such a pliable yet sturdy, weather resistant material gives it a remarkably concrete presence.  If you can make it down there, do.  It’s free on Thursdays, so no excuses Angelenos.

This is for my friend Jesse who sometimes tinkles those ivory keys for a little band we like to call The Deadly Syndrome.
