Takashi Murakami skateboards at Supreme Skate on Fairfax.

I am very curious to see how this will turn out.
Clint Arthur will get his day in court after all, in a class action claim that Louis Vuitton defrauded him and hundreds of others by repurposing leftover handbag material and selling it as fine art prints by pop artist Takashi Murakami. via…
First, I am glad that the lawsuit is against Louis Vuitton and not MOCA, as Arthur originally planned, because lord knows they can’t afford that sort of lawsuit right now.
Secondly, why do people think they can get away with stuff like this? I mean, let’s be honest about this situation, Louis Vuitton and Murakami got extra vinyl, originally made for purses and wallets and all that stuff, and cut it up into squares and called them art prints? Really? Why would you want to buy that? I can’t imagine it really looked like an art print, but maybe it did. The whole thing seems a little ridiculous to me. That they thought they could pass them off AND that someone bought them.
I refuse to take sides on this one because the whole thing is just silly, like Murakami prints silly. See what I did there!?
murakami? party for one, your table is ready.
Separate note, doesn’t his head look a little like the NBC peacock?

if you are in the new york city area this holiday season, be aware that japanese artist takashi murakami has teamed up with louis vuitton (again) on an installation to “wrap” around their fifth avenue location. wwd notes that the building starts today, and will be completed by this sunday.
