    Matt Hope Weathervane Proposed
This WOULD be my favorite balloon at the Tate ever.  Nicholas Serota, you listening? You should be, this would be epic.
Also, Matt is British, so it fits.  This may be just be a scheme to get Matt out of Beijing…but only maybe.

    Jeff Koons Rabbit

To celebrate the opening of Tate Modern’s major autumn exhibition “Pop Life: Art in a Material World,” a giant 53 foot (16 meter) helium balloon by Jeff Koons is being unveiled today at Covent Garden. It is the first time that Koons’s Rabbit balloon has been shown in the UK and its residency in the Market Building marks a new relationship between Covent Garden and Tate Modern.  via…

I like huge balloon sculptures, but my favorite at the Tate has to go to Paul McCarthy.

    Jeff Koons Balloon Flower 1995-2000

I don’t necessarily vibe with all of Koons’ work but some of his balloon pieces really strike a chord.  Especially in the context of where they are installed.

Art crush of the day: Paul McCarthy Blockhead 2003
I had the pleasure of seeing this while it was up at the Tate.  It was pretty incredible.  It is always funny when I see a piece of art and don’t know who the artist is but really like it.  Then I find out later it’s actually one of my favorite artists and I am happy about my taste consistency.
